ANNOUNCEMENTS & EVENTS

Firmly grounded in the Gurdjieff lineage, The Gurdjieff Legacy Foundation sponsors talks, workshops and seminars in the direction set by its founder William Patrick Patterson, who actively studied and practiced the teaching of The Fourth Way for fifty-three years. He was a direct student of Lord John Pentland, the man Mr. Gurdjieff appointed to lead the Work in America. Mr. Patterson’s rich Fourth Way legacy includes authoring ten books, and seven films, including the first documentary trilogy, The Life & Significance of G. I. Gurdjieff, as well as Introduction to Gurdjieff’s Fourth Way Parts 1, 2, 3 and Spiritual Pilgrimage: Mr. Gurdjieff’s Father’s Grave.

Teresa Adams, continuing in the lineage as Mr. Patterson’s direct student for over 30 years, is the director of The Gurdjieff Legacy Foundation which explores the fundamental ideas and practices of the Teaching, extending from its base to its furthest horizon. She leads groups, and oversees The Online Fourth Way School, as well as The Gurdjieff Journal (est. 1992).

St. Francis Retreat
San Juan Bautista, California

Fourth Way students and serious seekers come together for this three-day resident Immersion to explore how to work to apply Mr. Gurdjieff’s teaching in the midst of all the demands of modern life. This unique public event creates the conditions to go beyond theory and directly experience the methods and practices of this ancient teaching—opening to its transformative power.

In a beautiful setting overlooking the San Juan Bautista Valley and located one hour south of San Jose Airport, we explore a Fourth Way theme. Learning to apply conscious efforts, new qualities of self-knowledge and being unfold revealing higher degrees of that which is always available: Presence. As transmitted through the Gurdjieff lineage, The Immersion includes practice through Exercises, Haida Yoga, guided Sittings, dialogues, and private interviews. The Immersion is open to all levels of simplicity.
